Now THIS is a collaboration that was years in the making! Taylor Swift brought 90’s rocker Alanis Morissette on stage to perform her classic break up hit, ‘You Oughta Know.’ Click inside to WATCH!
Taylor Swift, 25, sure met her musical match when she invited Alanis Morissette, 41. Known best for releasing angsty break up music in the mid-90’s, Alanis joined the “1989” tour to give Taylor a lesson in how to go hard when it comes to sending your ex a message. The pair performed together during Taylor’s Monday night, Aug. 24 show in Los Angeles, Calif.
Wow. Is it me, or were these two musical mavens just meant to perform together someday? Thankfully that day is finally here, and there’s video to prove it! Even Taylor knows that Alanis is the break up song queen, and she gave her an incredible introduction.
“It is fair to say that so many of the female singer/songwriters of my generation, including myself, would not write the way that we do without her and her music,” Taylor told her sold out audience as the fans squealed with excitement. “And she wrote, has written, some of the most brilliant music… in particular probably inarguably the greatest break up song of all time.”
A moment later Taylor called out Alanis, and the two quickly broke into the first verse of “You Oughta Know” as her crowd went nuts. To be fair, Taylor’s audience is probably a little too young to really know Alanis and her music, but it’s probably safe to say that their parents were pretty pleased!
During the song, Taylor really got into it. Not only was she storming back and forth in her hot leather outfit, but she also jumped up and down during the upbeat chorus. But let’s be honest, are we really surprised that Taylor knows this song like the back of her hand?
