‘The View’ officially has its table for season 19! On August 25, ABC confirmed that the new co-hosts would be Paula Faris and Candace Cameron Bure, as well as Joy Behar who will be returning after a two-year hiatus.
Welcome to an all new View — with a few familiar faces! Candace Cameron Bure, a common guest, ABC affiliate, Paula Faris, and The View original, Joy Behar, have officially been announced as the three co-hosts taking over The View, when it returns to ABC on Sept. 8. The ladies will join Whoopi Goldberg, Raven-Symoné and Michelle Collins.
“Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in,” Joy said in a statement to ABC. The comedian was part of The View since the beginning in 1997, and left the show in 2013. “Plus, [my husband] Steve was getting tired of applauding every time I gave my opinion. But I’m happy to be back home. And I’m looking forward to sticking my two cents into the hot topics, especially now that Hillary and the Donald are in the spotlight.”
Joy’s return is a surprise, but it’s no secret that ABC has been struggling to finds a table of women who work; they interchanging the co-hosts for the past two years.
Candace, who is currently starring in the Netflix series, Fuller House, also released the following statement, revealing she is joining: “I am thrilled to be joining The View as a regular co-host this fall. I am honored to be a new addition to such a strong group of bright and opinionated women, and I look forward to sharing this exciting journey with viewers new and old.”
Third co-host, Paula, is a longtime member of the ABC family; she has been the co-anchor of GMA‘s weekend show since 2014, and before that, was an ABC News correspondent.
“I’m humbled and excited to have not one, but two dream jobs — Good Morning America and The View,” she said. “What I love about the The View is that no topic is off the table and every viewer can feel like they have a voice on the show. I can’t wait to connect with the audience in a new way as I take a seat alongside this exceptional group of women.”
