Is Izzie Stevens finally making a comeback on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’? Well, not quite. But Katherine Heigl is reuniting with the long-running ABC series in a way you’d never expect, according to a new report. Find out all the details here!
We’ve been dreaming about Katherine Heigl‘s return to Grey’s Anatomy since her departure from the series in 2010. And even though creator Shonda Rhimes recently said she’s done with Izzie Stevens’ storyline, we’re still holding out hope. Well, today, Aug. 24, longtime Grey’s fans got a bit of good news — Katherine, 36, will be reconnecting with the ABC drama. Find out how!
Katherine will reportedly star in a new legal drama on CBS, titled Doubt, from former Grey’s executive producers Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, according to HollywoodLife.com‘s sister site Deadline. So yes, Katherine will be reconnecting with her former Grey’s coworkers, but she won’t be starring in the medical drama again. That’s a bummer, but we love Katherine enough to watch anything she stars in. And we love a good legal drama.
“The project centers on Sadie Ellis (Katherine Heigl), a smart, chic, successful defense lawyer at a boutique firm who shockingly gets romantically involved with one of her clients, Billy, who may or may not be guilty of a brutal crime,” Deadline claims.
KaDee Strickland was initially cast as Sadie when the pilot was pitched last season. The pilot didn’t make the cut to series in May, but CBS was still interested in the potential series, Deadline further states. The characters of Sadie and Billy were recast, while the rest of the cast, which includes Laverne Cox, Dule Hill, Dreama Walker, Elliott Gould and Kobi Libii, is returning.
Katherine recently starred in the NBC drama series, State Of Affairs, following her exit from Grey’s Anatomy. Unfortunately, it was canceled after just one season.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Should Katherine Heigl return to Grey’s Anatomy? Vote in our poll and tell us how you feel!
