So sad. Justin Wilson has reportedly died after suffering a severe head injury on Aug. 23, when debris from a crash struck him in the IndyCar race at Pocono Raceway. He was in a coma, following the wreck, but sadly, Justin didn’t survive. He was just 37 years old.
Justin Wilson, 37, died on Aug. 24, following a tragic wreck at Pocono Raceway on Sunday, Aug. 23. He was hit in the head by debris from a horrific crash during the final laps of the ABC Supply 500. Justin was airlifted to a nearby hospital, but he didn’t survive his injury.

Justin was reportedly hit in the head by a piece of Sage Karam’s car when Sage spun and slammed into a wall. After Josh was struck, his car hit an interior wall. Justin was then rushed to a hospital by helicopter, according to ESPN.
After the crash, Verizon IndyCar Series released the following statement: “Wilson sustained a severe head injury during today’s event at Pocono Raceway. Wilson is currently in a coma and in critical condition while undergoing further evaluation at Lehigh Valley Health Network Cedar Crest Hospital in Allentown, Pa. IndyCar sends its thoughts and prayers to Justin, his family and Andretti Autosport during this difficult time. Additional updates to Wilson’s condition will be released when available.”
