When you take away John Cena’s reign as US Champ, he’s going to give you his patented finishing move, The Attitude Adjustment: that’s the lesson Jon Stewart got when he got back in the ring at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn for WWE’s ‘Monday Night RAW’ to explain why he did what he did.
After that devastating move of nailing a chair into the ribs of John Cena that prevented John Cena, 38, at SummerSlam on August 23 his match and potential 16th time holding the WWE Title, Jon Stewart got back in the ring the following night for Monday Night RAW to reveal he did it all to protect Ric Flair‘s championship record! Unfortunately for Stewart, Cena wasn’t happy with that explanation!
If you missed it, Stewart hit Cena with a chair during his championship match at SummerSlam, which equaled in Seth Rollins becoming the first superstar to hold the World and US Championship respectively. So, why did Jon do it?
“It was not to help Seth Rollins retain the world championship, as well as he fought. It was not to help The Authority because its whats best for business,” Jon said on Monday night. “It was because in my heart, I could not let John Cena TIE the great Ric Flair for 16 World championships. Because in my mind, the champ is FLAIR. Not on my watch — [I] wasn’t gonna let it happen.”
And with that, in came Ric Flair to tell Jon he was wrong. “I really appreciate what you were thinking last night but to be honest with you, I was pulling for John Cena,” Ric said. “Sooner or later, the record will be broken and I would prefer it be by someone that I respect.” That led to John Cena entering the ring to get some payback!
Jon Stewart Got His Attitude Adjusted!
Stewart tried to explain himself, and even explained his thoughts to Ric, but Ric retorted quickly with, “You have messed up everything.”
With a little more back and forth, John Cena came out and Jon Stewart was pretty much shaking in his baby blue tee. “You did not want me to tie the world record and I am at peace with that, but do you realize that because of what you did, do you realize Seth Rollins is the WWE Champion, and he is now the United States Champion?” After a little more talk… John Cena just did what he “had to do.” You can watch all the amazing action right here.
