Did Calvin Harris really defend his girl, Taylor Swift, against Avril Lavigne after her Twitter attack? Although a tweet from Calvin to Avril surfaced on social media, the truth about their alleged face-off may surprise you.
Things got super uncomfortable on Twitter after Avril Lavigne, 30, called out Taylor Swift, 25 for allegedly throwing shade at the rocker for not being friendly with her fans. The tweet sent both fan bases into a total uproar, and pretty soon an alleged screen cap from Taylor’s boyfriend, Calvin Harris’, Twitter account appeared on a Tumblr account in which he seemed to be defending Taylor. Unfortunately, it turns out that that never even happened!
“@AvrilLavigne she didn’t judge you. She doesn’t judge anyone,” read a tweet allegedly written by Calvin, according to a Tumblr dedicated to Taylor, which also claimed he quickly deleted the tweet. “She was only having fun with her fans, not trying to compare herself to you.” But did Calvin really tweet Avril about her direct hit at Taylor? Absolutely not!
A rep for Calvin has confirmed to HollywoodLife.com that the DJ did not tweet Avril, nor did he later delete said tweet. Instead, it appears as if Calvin has fallen victim to the power of photoshop — and passionate fans. Although the fans probably meant no harm in spreading around the false tweet, the truth is that it just never happened. Calvin even confirmed the fake tweet himself, writing:
In case you need a refresher, the “Wildest Dreams” singer liked a post on Tumblr where she was pictured hugging and kissing her fans, in comparison to Avril, Britney Spears, and other stars who looked awkward and forced. Avril took to Twitter to reassure that she loves her fans and that “judging a person does not define who they are, it defines who you are.” Fans took sides defending both Avril and Taylor, and Avril later shared a collage of her with her fans, saying “so let’s keep it all about the love and stay positive.”
