When the tears start flowing, there’s nothing you can do. Some of our favorite stars have cried on stage in front of their fans, including Perrie Edwards, Miley Cyrus and more!
Sometimes you just have to cry it out. Artists can get a little emotional when they are up on stage, whether it’s following a breakup or just the song itself. From Perrie Edwards’ recent tear-shedding moment to Chris Brown crying during his Michael Jackson tribute performance at the 2010 BET Awards, HollywoodLife.com has rounded up a gallery of the stars who’ve cried on stage.
Perrie Edwards and Zayn Malik’s breakup has been hard on everyone, especially Perrie. The Little Mix singer has kept a brave face amidst Zayn’s many disses since calling off their engagement in July 2014. During one of the band’s performances of “The End” on Aug. 19, Perrie started crying after finishing the lyrics, “And no one can love you, the way I used to do.” Poor Perrie!
Perrie’s not the only singer who has cried on stage. During Selena Gomez’s performance of “The Heart Wants What It Wants” at the 2014 American Music Awards, Selena started tearing up. It’s an emotional song about her ex Justin Bieber, so it was understandable that the starlet shed a few tears.
Songs about former flames can often trigger tears. Just ask Miley. When the singer took the stage for the first time since her split from Liam Hemsworth in 2013, Miley cried during her performance of “Wrecking Ball.” It was absolutely heart-breaking.
But breakups aren’t always the reason behind stars crying on stage. Chris was moved to tears at the 2010 BET Awards during his tribute to Michael Jackson. The performance was an homage to the “King of Pop,” and the realization that Michael was truly gone hit Chris hard.
At the 2009 inaugural ball of President Barack Obama, Beyonce teared up as she sang Etta James’ “At Last.” She watched President Obama, the first African American President of the United States, dance with his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, was a powerful moment for Beyonce (and everyone else).
