Honestly, we’re a little heartbroken. While trying to guess intros to songs, Zac Efron proved he doesn’t have a good memory of Troy and Gabriella’s epic love ballad ‘Breaking Free’ from the Disney Channel Original Movie ‘High School Musical.’ Click to WATCH!
Even though every Disney Channel fan can remember and recite High School Musical’s “Breaking Free” instantly, that’s not the case for Zac Efron, 27. In a hilarious (and rather shocking) interview, the We Are Your Friends star couldn’t remember “Breaking Free,” the song from the Disney Channel Original Movie that stole our hearts and made us fall in love with Zac and Vanessa Hudgens!
High School Musical fans, you may want to take a deep breath. “Breaking Free” was one of the songs that defined our Disney-loving generation, but Zac may need a recap. He sat down with his We Are Your Friends co-star Emily Ratajkowski and director Max Joseph for a little song-naming fun with Cosmopolitan UK.
The game starts out OK with the trio naming off Beyonce’s “Drunk in Love” and Justice Vs Simian’s “We Are Your Friends” easily. Then, none of them could name One Direction’s “Steal My Girl.” (Max thought the song was from the ’80s.)
And now here’s the zinger. The reporter plays the intro to “Breaking Free,” and Zac knows it’s from High School Musical. But that’s it. He names off “Soarin’, Flyin'” and “Take A Chance” as possible answers. Wrong and wrong! The reporter tells him it’s called “Breaking Free,” and he laughs off his embarrassment.
Zac admits that there were three High School Musical movies with dozens of songs. At some point, they all just collide, right? Granted, it’s been nine years since the movie was released, so we guess we’ll let this one slide. Only for Zac!
HollywoodLifers, are you shocked that Zac didn’t recognize “Breaking Free?” Let us know!
