Taylor Swift, 25, kicked off the Los Angeles leg of her 1989 world tour on Aug. 21 with a little help from basketball legend Kobe Bryant, 36, who joined her on stage and helped her celebrate a new record with the unveiling of a special banner.
Taylor, who was performing the first of five sold out shows at the Staples Center, should feel extra special now, thanks to the fact she has filled the legendary Los Angeles venue more than any other performer! Well done, Taylor!

“Sixteen is a very special number here in Los Angeles because 16 is the same amount of championships that we have as a Lakers franchise,” Kobe said on stage, alongside the pop starlet. “To celebrate those championships, we do something very special. We hang banners. That’s what we do.”
And as soon as he announced that –BOOM! A banner was born recognizing that impressive fact. It just doesn’t get any better than that! Even Taylor was a little bit surprised, revealing in an Instagram post after the show, “The banners up at Staples Center right now because WHAT IS LIFE EVEN.”

Before her LA performance, Taylor took to social media earlier in the week to post a pic of one of her earliest gigs that shows just how far she has come. “Getting ready to play 5 shows at Staples Center in LA this week and reminiscing about what my gigs used to be like,” Taylor captioned the Instagram photo.
