Grace Jones was a real crowd-pleaser at Afropunk Fest. The singer sure made a statement when opening the music festival on Aug. 21 — by performing topless! See the pic here.
Grace Jones, 67, is known for her cutting edge fashion sense, but when performing at Afropunk Festival in Brooklyn on Aug. 21, the singer appeared to ditch pretty much all of her clothes when taking the stage. The veteran singer left little to the imagination in this particular wardrobe choice — or lack thereof!
Grace shocked her fans when stepping out on stage covered in body paint, a skimpy under-bust corset and a flesh-colored thong. Yep, that’s it! We’ve got to hand it to Grace for being so confident! The “Private Life” singer opened the festival with a solo charitable show for the Fancy Dress Ball, and it appears like she gave her fans an unforgettable night. She will be returning to the fest to headline the show on Aug. 22 — who knows what kind of treat she’ll give the audience then!
Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time Grace has gone topless on stage. The Jamaican born star performed topless in Sydney in May, and also at Parklife festival in Manchester in June, covered in nothing but tribal body paint. Clearly, she has no intention of slowing down anytime soon!
Grace is known for being a fashion icon just as much as a music icon. She began her career as a model before transitioning into music. She was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Long-Form Music Video in 1983, and ranked 82nd on VH1’s “100 Greatest Women of Rock and Roll” in 1999. Her fashion choices were also a huge influence on the cross-dressing movement of the 1980s, and continue to inspire modern day trends. Good for Grace for doing her thing!
