At last! We’ve got some new music from Lana Del Rey to groove to. The dreamy singer teamed up with The Weeknd for the song ‘Prisoner’ off his new album ‘Beauty Behind the Madness’ and it is amazing!
“Maybe I’ve been destined to end up in this place” Lana Del Rey, 30, starts off the song. The smooth duet features the singer questioning her place in Hollywood while R&B crooner The Weeknd questions love. The song dropped Aug. 20 in advance of The Weeknd’s new album release.
“I think I’ve been in Hollywood for too long. I feel my soul burning slow” beautiful Lana croons in the moody track. “I feel the rush and it’s amazing…I want it all” she continues. She somberly ends the song talking about being a “stranger in her own dreams” but this is one dreamy tune we can’t get out of our heads. The song comes out ahead of her new album release for Honeymoon, which debuts on Sept. 18 but you won’t find it there. The track is featured on The Weeknd’s new album Beauty Behind the Madness which is due out Aug. 28.
The 25-year-old Toronto, Canada native – whose real name is Abel Tesfaye – has had an amazing summer. He performed onstage with Taylor Swift, 25, as her surprise guest during a New Jersey concert appearance in front of over 80,000 screaming fans. His single “Can’t Feel My Face” rocketed to the top of the singles charts. Even superstar Katy Perry, 30, professed her love for his music, saying his hot single “Often” is her favorite song to have sex to! She professed on the Grammy’s red carpet last winter that “He’s the most powerful sexual deliverer of beautiful lyrics right now and I appreciate that.”
Add in some dreamy lines from Lana with The Weeknd and that ups the steam quotient! We’re pretty sure Katy – and anyone who loves good music – will be impressed with this new work!
Hollywoodlifers, what do you think of Lana’s new single with The Weeknd?
