E! is getting a brand-new scripted pilot with ‘The Arrangement,’ and the show is stirring speculation that it’s inspired by Tom Cruise’s relationship with Katie Holmes and his connection to Scientology.
The Arrangement sounds eerily similar to one of Hollywood’s most buzzed-about romances — Tom Cruise, 53, and Katie Holmes, 36. The E! pilot follows a young actress who becomes involved with the world’s hottest actor. The stud is deeply involved with a spirituality center, much like Tom and Scientology. The actress’ relationship with the actor takes a strange turn when she must decide if she’ll accept the strict conditions of their “arrangement.” Find out what the network had to say about the comparisons!
This should be interesting. The Arrangement, from from Mad Men producer Jonathan Abrahams, is about a TV actress named Megan Morrison who is offered a $10 million marriage contract with Kyle West, a sexy Hollywood mega star. Kyle is dedicated to a spirituality center called The Institute for the Higher Mind, which is run by his best friend.
At the end of the pilot, Kyle suggests taking Megan on a date to Italy. This draws comparison to Tom and Katie’s highly-publicized romance because that’s where the former couple was first photographed together. However, this isn’t your typical love story. Megan is soon given a contract that analyzes her entire relationship with Kyle, and she must decide if she’ll accept the terms of “the arrangement.”
But don’t get your hopes up about seeing TomKat’s entire relationship play out on screen. “No, the pilot is not based on Tom Cruise.” an insider told HollywoodLife.com.
“The character of Kyle West is not at all inspired by anyone in particular,” an E! spokesperson said. “Kyle is a young, rising star who was recently left at the altar by his actress ex-girlfriend.”
Yeah, that doesn’t sound like Tom. Before he met Katie, Tom was married to Nicole Kidman. They were married from 1990 to 2001. Katie and Tom married in 2006 and were madly in love. They had one daughter together, Suri Cruise. Unfortunately, they divorced in 2012. However, Kyle’s best friend sounds similar to Scientology leader David Miscavige, whom Tom is good friends with.
Chicago Fire’s Christine Evangelista will play Megan Morrison, according to our sister site Deadline. Dallas hunk Josh Henderson has been cast as Kyle West. Michael Vartan will play Kyle’s best friend and leader of The Institute for the Higher Mind.
