Knowing you have to go to school after a fun-filled summer is heartbreaking. For one little boy, the tough part was leaving his mommy. Even though he tried very hard to be brave, the thought of her not being there brought him to tears. Click to watch the adorable video!
KTLA reporter Courtney Friel, asked a young first-time student, Andrew Macias, 4, a few questions before he headed inside to start the new school year on Aug. 18. One of those questions brought the tiny guy to tears outside City Terrace Elementary School in Los Angeles.
A reporter was on back to school duty when she was able to catch the cutest interview ever. A four-year-old boy was starting his first day of preschool and had no problem answering a few questions. That was until Courtney asked him if he would miss his mom during his first day.
Andrew sweetly shook his head and said “no”, but within the matter of seconds his face showed otherwise. He began to frown and tear up and then the waterworks came out in full force. Aw, poor little guy. He is so innocent that the video is truly adorable. We love how brave he was trying to be, but we also feel his pain about having to leave a beloved parent for the first time.
Courtney obviously felt horrible and posted the video on her Instagram account with the caption, “This breaks my heart and now I’m anxious about sending my kids to school! He was trying to be so brave!” She also tweeted after the incident, “For the second day in a row I’m on ‘back to school’ coverage- and I just made a pre-K kid cry- I feel awful about that!” Aw, we do feel bad for her, but she meant well.
