We love a classic black eyeliner look but when we want to mix it up, there’s nothing cooler than a bright blue lower lashline or purple cat eye. Celebrities are trying it out to create major red carpet moments and it happens to make the perfect colorful look for the last days of summer.

Classic beauty favorites like Lea Michele as well as celebs like Lucy Hale who are more daring with their beauty looks are getting in on the trend. Keep reading to see how you can copy their looks, or choose your own fun color and copy their technique!

For a bold approach to color, copy Lucy’s mix of navy and cobalt blue. Kelsey Deenihan started by applying Chanel Quadra Eyeshadow in Lagons across the lid and into the crease. To really make her eyes pop, Kelsey used mark. On The Edge Liquid Eyeliner in Blue Chrome to create a bright cat eye.

If you love the blue look, but want to tone it down, consider Lea’s lower lashline only look. Makeup Artist Melanie Inglessis started with Make Up For Ever Artist Liner in Matte Majorelle Blue for a deep royal blue shade. For a brighter effect, she blended in Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in Turquoise with the darker blue, smudging them for a sexy, shimmery finish.

For more color options, Kristen Stewart and Rowan Blanchard tried purple toned eyeliner looks. Kristen’s smudged out plum shade is easy to get using Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Plum to line both the upper and lower lashline and blending for as smokey or precise of a finish as you like. For Rowan’s purple cat eye, turn to the Make Up For Ever Artist Liner again, this time in Iridescent Pop Purple.
