This guy seems to sniff trouble out. Columbus Short was arrested once again on August 18, this time as a result of a missed court appearance. Oddly, he was apprehended at a nightclub while celebrating the release of his album. Okay.
Columbus Short, who played Harrison Wright for three seasons on Scandal, was arrested on a bench warrant on Aug. 18, while he was inside a Los Angeles nightclub. The 32-year-old had neglected to show up for a recent court date involving a terrifying altercation with his estranged wife, Tanee McCall-Short, from back in April of 2014, in which she had obtained a restraining order against Columbus after he had allegedly threatened to kill both she and himself.
Following that incident with Tanee, Columbus had been released from jail on a $500,000 bail. However, because he did not appear at his designated court date, his bail was revoked, and he was greeted inside the club by bounty hunters and sheriffs.
Making the situation all the more pitiful, Columbus was at the club in order to promote his music, something he evidently has found time for between his various legal troubles. The arrest was Columbus’s fifth so far, having been arrested previously for domestic violence, fighting and public intoxication.
Columbus is clearly struggling, though, and we hope he is able to come out of this dark phase of his life. Back in December, the actor admitted that, while filming Scandal, he experienced major issues with substance abuse. “I’ll be candid. I was struggling with drugs,” he admitted on Access Hollywood. “I had a lot on my plate, and you know, I was using unhealthy ways to kind of self-medicate and deal with a lot of heavy duty stuff in my life.”
Here’s to hoping this time around, maybe Columbus will truly learn his lesson. We’re all rooting for him to get better, over here. What do you think of Columbus getting arrested, HollywoodLifers? Does he deserve to have the book thrown at him?
