A-Rod is back in a big way! Alex Rodriguez broke a nearly month-long hitless streak during the Aug. 18 game with the Minnesota Twins! Alex blasted the ball out of the park to extend his record of most Grand Slams to 25!

New York Yankees fans are back in love with Alex Rodriguez, 40. After spending three weeks in a major hitting slump, the Yankees slugger finally connected — and he knocked it out of the park! A-Rod broke his dry spell with a home run that not only gave him a record-beating Grand Slam, but also helped the Yanks win the game!

When A-Rod stepped up to the plate during the Yankees’ Aug. 18 home game against the Minnesota Twins, he was in the middle of a really bad drought. In the prior three weeks, he had only connected with the ball once for a meager single, reports the New York Times. With bases loaded, A-Rod redeemed himself with a Grand Slam, putting the Yanks up 5-4. That started a rally that saw the Yankees put down the Twins, 8-4.

Not only did Alex’s hit break his dry spell, it extended his record for the most Grand Slams in Major League Baseball to 25! It’s about time! The last time Alex hit a Grand Slam was on Sept. 20, 2013 in a game against the San Francisco Giants.

“It never has bothered me,” Rodriguez said of his dry-spell, after he scored his record-boosting slam. “What’s bothered me is when you have poor at-bats and when you chase, when you’re not being productive and helping the team win.”

“I think when you hit a lot of home runs they come in bunches,” he added. While A-Rod has hit 25 homers this year, according to, he was 1-27 at trying to get on base since his 40th birthday on July 27. Maybe the man who wears #13 found out that #40 is his unlucky number?

Fans were grateful for Alex’s grand slam, as it kept the Yankees in first place in the American League East. They’re one game ahead of the red hot Toronto Blue Jays. A-Rod’s grand slam seemed to wipe away any worry that he had lost it since he spent the entire 2014 season suspended due to his use of performance enhancement drugs. Now, if Alex pulls out some more homers like this, the Yankees will definitely make the MLB Playoffs this year.

Are you a fan of the Yankees, HollywoodLifers? Were you excited over A-Rod’s grand slam? Who do you want to win the World Series this year?
