Is Kendall Jenner fighting a battle for her sis Kylie? The supermodel sported an interesting new hairstyle in an Aug. 17 Instagram that has us wondering: is this a cheeky statement to her sister’s foe Amandla Stenberg?
Kendall Jenner, 19, is all about sisterly love, as she proved in a new Instagram of herself with Khloe Kardashian, 31, and Kourtney Kardashian, 36. There are pouty faces and peace signs all around, but Kendall’s new cornrows is definitely the highlight of the pic. We have to wonder if her style is a sign of solidarity with her 18-year-old sis Kylie Jenner, who got in a fight with Amandla Stenberg, 16, when she showed off her own cornrows.
In the black and white photo posted by Khloe with the caption “Real Sisters”, Kendall looks amazing sporting a snake-printed crop top and matching bottoms. Her peace fingers cover most of her face, but there’s no hiding that cornrows hairstyle. Her dark hair appears to be highlighted in the pic, and woven into at least six braids. It’s a looser style than the way Kylie has worn cornrows, but it’s still an unmistakable reference to the high-profile feud.
Kylie Jenner Vs. Amandla Stenberg: ‘KUWTK’ Star Criticized For Appropriating Black Culture
For those who need a refresher, Kylie posted a photo of herself wearing cornrows on July 11. Amandla took to the comments section to call Kylie out: “when u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans by directing attention towards your ur wigs instead of police brutality or racism #whitegirlsdoitbetter.” Obviously, Kylie didn’t take it sitting down responding, “Mad if I don’t, Mad if I do…. Go hang w Jaden or something.”
After the incident, Kylie went on to show off cornrows again in an Aug. 11 Snapchat video. Justin Bieber, even defended her at the time: “Guys leave her alone, were all trying to figure it out and she happens to be under a microscope!” he said. “But saying she’s being racist because she wants her hair in braids is ridiculous. lets focus on the bigger picture and instead of fighting over something stupid lets do something about equality, but it doesn’t stat here blasting a 17 year old for wearing braids smh.”
HollywoodLifers, do you think Kendall’s cornrows are a message to Amandla?
