Cara Delevingne Quitting Modeling: It Made Me Hate My Body & ‘Didn’t Make Me Grow’

Whoa, this is shocking! Cara Delevingne is going full throttle on the movie star path, and leaving modeling in the dust. The 23-year-old revealed in a recent interview that she’s done with doing ‘fashion work’ for good!

The modeling world is losing one of its biggest stars! Cara Delevingne, 23, jumped on the scene in 2011 and has since become a force to be reckoned with in the industry, but she’s calling it quits on the job that shot her to stardom. The gorgeous Brit opened up about her decision, admitting that her career put her ‘constantly on edge,’ and as the years went on, things just got worse and worse. To hear more about Cara Delevingne, head over to iTunes and download the latest HollywoodLife podcast for free!

To quote her directly, Cara’s actual words wore that she’s “not doing fashion work any more.” “It didn’t make me grow at all as a human being,” she admitted to The Times. “And I kind of forgot how young I was. I felt so old.”

Besides the incredibly busy and demanding nature of the job, the 23-year-old said modeling took a toll on her mentally, too. “I was, like, fight and flight for months. Just constantly on edge,” she explained. “It is a a mental thing as well because if you hate yourself and your body and the way you look, it just gets worse and worse.”

She also opened up about feeling sexually exploited in the job, especially because, as a newcomer, she wasn’t brave enough to say ‘no’ when asked to do something sexual. “I am a bit of a feminist and it makes me feel sick,” she said. “It’s horrible and it’s disgusting. You start when you are really young and you get subjected to… not great stuff.”

Instead, Cara is working on branching out into the acting industry — she made her debut in 2015’s Paper Towns, and will also star in the highly-anticipated Suicide Squad, due out on Aug. 5, 2016. Of course, she recognizes that the industries are similar, but since she’s more mature now, she’s also ready to fight back.

“I am very good at standing up for myself now, and for other people,” she pointed out. “If there is injustice, I will flip out. If someone is crossing a line, they will know about it, and so will everyone else.” Amen, girl!

HollywoodLifers, do you really think Cara is done with modeling for good?
