Out with the old and in with the new! After retiring from ‘The Daily Show,’ Jon Stewart is taking on his next challenge, which will be hosting WWE’s ‘SummerSlam’ on Aug. 23. So exciting!
We’ve been eager to know what Jon Stewart’s next big move would be since leaving The Daily Show desk. Well, this is it! The 52-year-old comedian, who is a huge professional wrestling fan, will be the celebrity guest host of WWE’s annual SummerSlam event on Aug. 23. Brace yourselves for one incredible event!
We knew big things would come for Jon after departing from The Daily Show, and in our minds, he’s the perfect SummerSlam host. Not only is he quick-witted and a loyal WWE fan, but he’s appeared in a few of the storylines before, so we know what he’s capable of. Of course, we all remember when Jon stopped by Monday Night Raw in March and got into it with WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins and kicked him right in the groin! Seth better watch out, because Jon is back.
Jon’s Daily Show exit was definitely an emotional one. After bringing the laughs for 18 seasons, Jon said farewell for good on Aug. 6. Of course, he went out with a bang, bringing out surprise special guests, including Bruce Springsteen, Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert. He also played a recorded montage which including politicians saying goodbye to him. However, the best part was when Stephen went off-book with a genuine farewell and Jon cried in his arms. Still not over that.
This year’s SummerSlam has been extended to a four hour broadcast, which includes a one hour pre-show that begins at 6pm ET on the WWE Network. This will surely be one heck of an event!
