So there is literally nothing she can’t do. While hosting the Teen Choice Awards, Gina Rodriguez pretty much floored everyone by casually rapping– and it was ridiculously good.
As if she weren’t busy enough, at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards on Aug. 16, Gina Rodriguez, 31, managed to make her cohost, Ludacris, blush by rapping his verse from the 2010 hit, “All I Do Is Win.” Jaws hit the floor when the Jane the Virgin star demonstrated to Luda and their other cohost Josh Peck, definitely why she should emerge victorious as MVP host of the evening. Cue the mic drop!
At the start of the ceremony, the hosting trio was attempting to decide which responsibilities should be tackled by whom. Josh said that Luda should take the reins on the show’s musical aspects, for obvious reasons. However, Gina objected to the notion immediately.
“Hold on one second,” Gina said, cutting Josh off. “I mean, I know how to rap, too.” You know how to what now?
“Ludacris goin’ in on the verse / Cause I never been defeated and I won’t stop now,” Gina began to rap at a speed which was both impressive and tongue-twisting. “Get your hands up, get ’em in to sky for the homies / That didn’t make it and the folks locked down / All I do is win, win, win, no matter what, Luda!”
And then, to bring the dang thing home, Luda joined in with Gina and the two rapped together on the last line. “Everybody hands go up / And they stay there.” We’ll give you a moment to regain your composure.
So, for those keeping score at home, Gina is a Golden Globe winner, an awards show host extraordinaire– and bonafide rapper. Meanwhile, here we are rewatching this clip on a loop. It’s whatever. At the risk of feeling a little bad about yourself, watch the whole incredible thing below!
What do you think of Gina’s rap skills? Are you as impressed as we are?
