Whoops! After telling the world Kylie Jenner crashed her brand-new Ferrari just hours after she received it on her 18th birthday, Austin Mahone has been forced to take back his allegations, admitting that it was all just an ‘Internet rumor.’
Austin Mahone, 19, must be regretting this one! Just days after revealing that Kylie Jenner, 18, crashed her brand-new white Ferrari on the Aug. 13 episode of Watch What Happens Live, the singer was forced to apologize for adding fire to the rumor, admitting that it was all completely untrue. But will Kylie forgive him?
Austin took responsibility for spreading the false rumor while speaking to People magazine at the Teen Choice Awards on Aug. 16, and said that he was dead wrong about the situation. “I was at the party and I saw she got a Ferrari,” said Austin. “And then a couple hours later I saw on Twitter and I saw like the same Ferrari, like the same color and it was all smashed up and like everyone was going crazy on Twitter like ‘Oh, Kylie crashed her Ferrari’ and I was like ‘Oh, no way.’ ” The “Dirty Work” singer added that he figured if everyone on Twitter was talking about it, it had to be true.
But come on, Austin — don’t you know by now that not everything on social media is factual?! “Classic starting rumors online,” he added. “I’m sorry if I started a rumor. I didn’t mean to. That’s what happened but she told me that she didn’t crash it so … her Ferrari’s fine, everything’s good.” Phew!
Of course, the damage was already done at that point. After the rumor spread like wildfire throughout the Twittersphere, many began tweeting about Kylie’s alleged crash. Singer Jake Quickenden reportedly heard the same thing as Austin about the car and took to Twitter to address the incident. “Kylie Jenner crashed her Ferrari… Whatttttt…. Glad she’s ok but that’s 295,000 down the toilet,” he tweeted. Kylie later replied confirming, “Just a rumor :)” We guess Austin must have just missed that tweet.
Like Austin said though, “everything’s good” with Kylie and the Ferrari. The reality star and her boyfriend Tyga, 25, were spotted riding around in the $320,000 vehicle in SoCal on Aug. 14 after returning from their celebratory getaway in Mexico. While Kylie opted for the passenger seat for the ride, it was clear that the car was still in mint condition, thus putting those rumors to rest once and for all (we hope).
HollywoodLifers, did you believe the rumors that Kylie had crashed her Ferrari? What do you think of Austin’s apology? Let us know!
