He’s baaack! Tim Tebow took his first step towards returning to the NFL playing in the Philadelphia Eagles preseason opener on Aug. 16. One thing is for sure, if the fans have anything to say about it he’s a lock to make the team! Way to go Tim!
Tim Tebow, 28, sure knows how to make an entrance! The insanely popular quarterback made his return to the NFL in the Philadelphia Eagles preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts on Aug. 16 and the crowd welcomed him with a standing ovation! But did the inspirational athlete’s performance meet his rabid fans expectation?
The simple answer is, yes and no. The fans loved him, errupting with applause as he entered the game at Lincoln Financial Field in the third quarter. In fact it was so loud that he had to quiet down the crowd by waving his arms. From there Tim’s playing had mixed results finishing 6-of-12 for 69 yards with a seven-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately he was also sacked twice. The Eagles won the game 36-10.
“It was fun,” the QB told ESPN. “Playing ball. I loved it. You want to be focused on footwork, reads, communication with everybody but also enjoy the moment. You won’t always have it. I was thankful. But I was also like, ‘They [the Eagles offensive players] won’t be able to hear me! We’ll have to go [to a] silent [count].’ It’s very humbling. It definitely means a lot.”
After not playing last season, Tim signed with the Eagles as a free agent in April. The Heisman Trophy winner, who turned 28 on Aug. 14, has been splitting his time between doing TV work and training with quarterback coach Tom House. If he doesn’t catch on with the Eagles, it seems likely Tim’s playing career will be over. We have to agree with the fans — we really want Tim to make it back!
What do you think HollywoodLifers, will Tim make the cut?
