FINALLY! The first movie poster for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ has been unveiled, and it’s guaranteed to whet your appetite for the next installment of the sci-fi classic. Read what clues it gives away about the plot right here!
One weekend, two Star Wars announcements! First, we were treated to a photo of the cast of the spinoff movie Star Wars: Rogue One, and now the sure-to-be iconic first movie poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens is upon us, and it has subtle clues as to what’s in store!
The artwork was created by renowned artist Drew Struzan for attendees at Disney’s huge D23 Expo on Aug. 16, and it doesn’t disappoint at all! The poster, done in the iconic style we’ve become accustomed to for the Star Wars saga, drops big hints on the plot. It’s pretty much confirmed that John Boyega’s character Finn will be a Jedi. Why else would he be wielding a lightsaber?!
Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Rey (Daisy Ridley), and the returning Han Solo (Harrison Ford) are also featured on the poster. And if Drew’s work seems familiar, it’s because he not only worked on all the Star Wars movies’ promotional materials in the past, but he also crafted works for the Indiana Jones movies as well.
We cannot wait for J.J. Abrams‘ new take on the franchise. Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released Dec. 18. Original cast members Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill are also returning for the movie.
‘Star Wars’ Spinoff ‘Rogue One’ — First Photo Revealed
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, the D23 Expo perhaps should have been renamed the Star Wars convention, judging by the two big stories to come out of Disney’s entertainment extravaganza over the weekend.
Not only did we get this glimpse at The Force Awakens, we were also treated to the first cast photo of Star Wars: Rogue One in all their glory. The Theory of Everything’s Felicity Jones looks fierce in the photo, alongside Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen.
