Is ‘Zaylena’ the next big romance? Zayn Malik started following Selena Gomez on Twitter, leading fans to wonder if he was flirting with her! During an interview on BBC Radio 1, Selena talked about Zayn’s sudden social media interest. Click to listen!
Zayn Malik, 22, has been on a social media spree as of late. When he started following Selena Gomez, 23, on Twitter, Directioners wondered if the newly single Zayn was not-so-secretly looking for romance with the “Come & Get It” singer. Selena opened up on her famous follower and revealed if she thought he was worth a follow-back.
During Selena’s Aug. 14 interview with Scott Mills and Chris Stark on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show, she gave some pointers on how to get over 30 million followers. After revealing her secret — “authenticity” — the conversation turned to one particular fan.
“How does it feel to be followed by Zayn Malik on Twitter. He just started following you,” Chris asked. Much to the shock of Directioners, Selena admitted she was completely unaware that Zayn had clicked the FOLLOW button until someone pointed it out. “I had no idea what that was until somebody else asked me,” said Selena. While most Directioners would probably flip if Zayn started following them, to Selena, it was no big thing.
“Obviously I know Zayn, though, so it’s not like a weird thing. I just didn’t know who followed me,” said Selena. Well, with over 30 million fans on twitter, it could be hard for just Selena to keep track of them all. Still, she gave him a shout-out, saying “Thanks for the follow, Zayn!”
After Zayn called things off with Perrie Edwards, he’s been enjoying the single life by flirting with women online, like Kylie Jenner and her sister, Kendall Jenner. When fans saw that he started following Selena, they wondered if this was the start of “Zaylena.” Scott and Chris were curious too, asking if Selena decided to follow Zayn back. “Did I?” she asked. “I don’t know. I don’t think I did. But I will right now. It’s on my phone. I should do it.” Hmm.
Selena — who is looking sexier than ever — not only cleared up her Twitter relationship with Zayn in that interview, she also clarified the lyrics to her new song. Some of her British fans think that she’s saying “farting carrots” at the start of “Good For You.” Really! Thankfully, Selena made sure everyone know that carrots had nothing to do with her sexy new single.
What do you think about Selena and Zayn following each other on Twitter, HollywoodLifers? Is there something there?
