Hailee Steinfeld has been praised for singing about not needing a man in her new single ‘Love Myself,’ but fans who REALLY dissected the lyrics have taken notice of a deeper meaning. Is the normally wholesome actress singing about masturbating?!

“I’m gonna touch the pain away // I know how to scream my own name.” This is just one of the lines Hailee Steinfeld, 18, sings in her debut single “Love Myself” that has fans questioning whether or not the track’s meaning is just a bit dirtier than simple female empowerment and independence. Click to see tweets from Hailee’s followers who are freaking out that the song is about masturbating!

In the song, Hailee also sings, “I’m gonna put my body first // and love me so hard ’til it hurts,” as well as, “When I get chills at night // I feel it deep inside without you // know how to satisfy.” On top of those super sexy lyrics, she also wears a bodysuit that says, “Self Service” in the “Love Myself” music video. I mean…

At the risk of speculating about this one ourselves, we’ll let the fans speak! Everyone on Twitter can’t seem to get enough of the tune, but the meaning hasn’t escaped them. See some reactions here:

After showing off her vocal chops in Pitch Perfect 2, Hailee launched her music career, debuting her first single on Aug. 7. And we didn’t have to wait long for a music video after that — it premiered just one week later on Aug. 14! Whatever the meaning behind the song, we just can’t get it out of our heads. Can this gal just put out an album already!?

Tell us, HollywoodLifers: Do you think Hailee’s song is about masturbating? How do you feel about the lyrics?
