Shawn Mendes can do no wrong! The 17-year-old covered One Direction’s new single ‘Drag Me Down’ and pulls off one incredible acoustic version of the hit. Click to WATCH!
In case you didn’t know: Shawn Mendes, 17, is amazing. Music’s hottest up-and-coming artist took on One Direction’s mega-hit “Drag Me Down,” and it’s great. Shawn’s acoustic, slowed-down approach to the song is pretty perfect. One Direction’s version is still epic, but we’ll definitely still have Shawn’s take on our playlist!
Can Shawn just cover every song out there? Shawn posted a video of his rendition of the One Direction hit, and we’re still swooning. In a simple black-and-white video, Shawn tells his fans, “I hope you like it.” Using his magical talents, he strummed on his guitar and belted out the high notes. We didn’t just like his version, we loved it!
In case you’ve been living under a rock, “Drag Me Down” is 1D’s first song without Zayn Malik. The four boys recently performed it for the first time on Good Morning America. Meanwhile, Shawn, who celebrated his 17th birthday on Aug. 8, has been taking over the world with his hit songs “Stitches” and “Life of the Party.” He’s gotten the attention of major artists like Taylor Swift, who’s nabbed him to perform at a number of her 1989 concerts! Maybe 1D will invite him to perform along with them at one of their remaining concerts!
Shawn recently collaborated with Pitch Perfect 2 star Hailee Steinfeld for a stripped down version of “Stitches.” Their voices complimented each other so well in the romantic rendition. The song will have you feeling all the feelings.
We can’t wait to see what Shawn comes up with next! Whether it’s a new song or a cover, Shawn always manages to grab our attention.
