This is some terrifyingly amazing casting. Lily Rabe is coming back to ‘American Horror Story,’ guest starring in the already-creepy ‘Hotel’– and she will bring to life the most famous female serial killer of all time!
American Horror Story: Hotel is making some of our favorite good girls go bad. Very bad. Lily Rabe, who has appeared on each previous season of American Horror Story, has just been officially added to the already ridiculously amazing cast of the show’s anticipated new episodes, which will premiere on FX on Oct. 7. Even more exciting, Lily, 33, will portray Aileen Wuornos, regarded by many as the most infamous female murderer ever. Yes, ever.
Series creator Ryan Murphy is actually the one who broke the casting news. “Our Halloween episode this year is called “Devil’s Night,” Ryan told the LA Times. “I’m directing it because I love the script so much, when we finished it I said, ‘I can’t give this to anybody else.’ Lily Rabe is coming to that episode.”
Better, yet Ryan was kind enough to give us a few details. “[Lily] is playing Aileen Wuornos, which is really fun and bizarre. I don’t want to give too much away, but I will tell you that she’s at the centerpiece of that, and that’s who she’s playing. ” So, like, permission to freak out? Because that sounds totally amazing.
In AHS‘s previous incarnations, Lily has portrayed several characters (emphasis on “characters”), from goodness personified Sister Mary Eunice to the hippie-dippie Misty Day. In other words, playing Aileen will fit right into her eclectic catalog.
Aileen, who died from court-ordered lethal injection in 2002 at the age of 46, was notorious for killing seven of her clients, during the time she was working as a prostitute. She claimed to have committed the murders in self defense, however, she was ultimately convicted for six of the killings, and was subsequently sentenced to death. We can only imagine what her role on the show is going to be!
Are you excited that Lily is going to appear on the new AHS? How do you think she’ll do portraying Aileen?
