So sweet! Fans were heartbroken when ‘Downton Abbey’ heart throb Dan Stevens decided to leave the show in 2013. Now he and his on-screen wife Michelle Dockery have finally reunited after so many years apart. Keep reading to see the sweet pics.
Dan Stevens, 32, and Michelle Dockery, 33, took to social media to show off their reunion, three years after he decided to leave Downton Abbey for good. Now so many years after his character met a tragic end on the finale of season 3, he and Lady Mary Crawley have given us a glimpse of the couple they could have been.
His character, Matthew Crawely, may have been killed in a tragic car wreck, but Dan is alive and well and he reunited with his former co-star when Downton Abbey was honored with a Special Award by BAFTA on Aug. 11. After six seasons on air, the BBC drama is finally drawing to a close and it took this special ceremony to finally bring the two back together. Michelle posted a photo of their reunion on her Instagram and wrote the caption “I’ve missed this face.” Aw, so have we!
Michelle spoke out candidly about her feelings when Dan decided to leave the show. “I was sad … that Dan wanted to go,” Michelle said in 2013 during her visit to The View. “We were all sad. … I thought, ‘What is going to happen now? So much [of the show] is about the relationship between [Matthew] and Mary.We all had a choice to sign up for another series,” Michelle explained to the women, noting that she was OK with Dan’s decision not to re-up his contract. She may have been ok with it, but we would still love to have seen the future where Matthew and Mary are together.
