OMG. We can’t believe what just happened on the Aug. 11 episode of ‘Scream.’ A major character died and it’s Emma’s fault. Unfortunately, the killer keeps making her responsible for who lives and dies, and after this traumatic event, we don’t think she’ll ever recover.
Say it isn’t so! A major character — who we absolutely loved — died on the August 11 episode of Scream. It was honestly the biggest death we’ve seen thus far, which only makes us nervous for what’s to come.
After Will (Connor Weil) was kidnapped, Piper (Amelia Rose Blaire) eventually wakes up and sees a gruesome message written on the wall with blood. But we’ll get to that later. Will then wakes up in an unknown location, tied up, with duct tape across his mouth. It’s a scary sight for him as the killer bends down, looks in his eyes, and puts his finger over his mouth, urging him to stay quiet. So scary!
We then see Maggie (Tracy Middendorf) preparing for dinner, and Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) assumes she must be in love. Apparently, Maggie doesn’t usually cook anything great. Maggie tells Emma she invited the sheriff (Jason Wiles) and Kieran (Amadeus Serafini) over for dinner, while hinting that it could be a double date. However, Emma says she and Kieran are just friends. But once they get to school, they start making out in the parking lot and talking about what it’d be like to star on a reality show together. (I seriously think about that every. single day.)
As Brooke (Carlson Young) and Jake (Tom Maden) are talking in the hall about where her mom might be — or if she’s dead — Emma asks them if they’ve seen Will because she got a mysterious text message from him the night before. But before they can say much, Piper walks up and says they “need to talk.”
She leads them back to the car dealership, where she tells them about how Will was kidnapped. She also shows them the message on the wall, which reads, “NO COPS EMMA.” Clearly, it’s a message from the killer. When Emma’s alone, she gets a call from the killer, who posed at Will at the beginning of their conversation. When she begs for Will’s safety, the killer asks her to play a game of hide and seek — just like Daisy and Brandon used to play. (Side note: Jake also finally confesses that he was involved in the blackmailing scheme with Will.)
Noah (John Karna) helps Emma track down Will’s cell phone, and they, along with Brooke and Jake venture out to find him. When Kieran calls Emma and asks why she’s not at dinner, she doesn’t tell him why she can’t make it. Instead, she just asks that he makes up an excuse for her. And then she says she owes him one, to which he says, “yeah… you do.” (That could be sexual, but we’re not sure.)
The hunt for Will leads everyone to an abandoned bowling alley, where they do a lot of exploring before splitting up. When Jake takes a pee break, Brooke comes face to face with the killer. And that’s when she goes running for her life and comes across Noah and Emma trying to free Will, who has been tied up in a back room. He’s been stabbed pretty bad, so Emma applies duct tape to his wounds.
Meanwhile, when Maggie and the sheriff tell Kieran to call Emma and urge her to come home for dinner, he offers to go pick her up instead. Noah also calls Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) in a panic from the bowling alley, which leads her to Emma’s house, where she’s forced to tell Maggie and the sheriff that Emma and her friends may be in trouble.
When the killer realizes where Emma, Brooke, Noah and Will are hiding — after all, he or she is the one who put Will there — Noah barricades himself against the door and tells everyone to run out the back entrance. Unbeknownst to her friends, Emma takes a detour and plays an audio tape that the killer left for her. Apparently, Brandon James used to work at the bowling alley, and her dad is heard saying that her mom slept with Brandon.
As Emma tried rejoining her friends, she’s confronted by the killer, but at the same moment, the cops burst in and the killer runs off. Seconds later, Kieran mysteriously runs into the bowling alley. He says he heard the call on the police scanner, but it seems hella suspicious. Noah also jumps out of a back hallway. At this point, everyone seems to be a suspect.
Later at home, Emma gets a call from Will, who’s home recuperating. She’s skeptical it’s him, but when he recalls a memory from their first date, she believes him. He invites her to come over and watch a movie and she accepts. But when she gets there, she gets a call from the killer, who says the game isn’t over yet. He tells her to run before it’s too late. When she runs through an open barn and comes out the back, she sees Will tied to a chair with a big farming machine behind him. His eyes tell her not to get any closer, but Emma runs towards him anyway. She trips over a wire, which flips a switch and a big saw blade comes down on Will’s head and kills him. His blood shoots at Emma’s face and covers her entirely. It’s pretty gruesome.
