What an emotional time for the TODAY Show family. Hoda Kotb broke down in tears while talking about her co-host, Kathie Lee Gifford, and her husband, Frank Gifford’s, sudden death.
Just one day after Frank Gifford, 84, passed away on August 9, Hoda Kotb, 51, paid tribute to the legendary sportscaster by watching clips of he and Kathie Lee Gifford, his wife, on past TODAY Show episodes. Hoda tried hard to hold it together, but she completely lost it when talking about how strong her friend and co-host Kathie is during this difficult time. Find out more.
“She is remarkably strong, I’m in awe of her even today,” Hoda said on the August 10th episode of the TODAY Show. Hoda then talked about the moment she found out Frank had passed, trying her hardest not to cry. She explained that she was scrolling through the birthday wishes on her phone when she saw the text from Kathie saying Frank had passed.
At first, she didn’t want to believe it was true. Hoda explained that Kathie asked everyone to kindly not come to her home, but Hoda did not listen. She immediately drove to Kathie’s home and it’s a good thing she did! Kathie told her “I’m so happy you don’t listen to me.”
To honor Frank, the TODAY Show ran clips of different times Frank was on the show. He really was part of the family and Hoda could barely watch the clips without crying. In between clips, Hoda explained that Kathie’s faith is currently at an all-time high and how inspiring that is to her. As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Frank died of natural causes in his in Connecticut home on August 9.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kathie, her family, and the entire TODAY Show family.
