Since the news broke of Frank’s death, fans and celebrities have been sending their condolences to the TODAY show co-host and her family. As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Frank died of natural causes in his Connecticut home. He was just a week shy of celebrating his 85th birthday, which is also the same day Kathie turns 62.
Frank and Kathie met during an episode of ABC’s Good Morning America after her divorce from Paul Johnson in 1983, when Frank was filling in as a host. They married in 1986, and had two kids together, Cassidy and Cody. Before Kathie, Frank was married to his USC college sweetheart, Maxine Avis Ewart, from 1978-1986. They had three children together, Jeff, Kyle and Victoria.
Frank was an NFL legend, best known for playing on the New York Giants and for co-hosting Monday Night Football from 1971 to 1985. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1977, after playing on the Giants as a running back, wide receiver and defensive back from 1952-1964.
Our thoughts remain with the Gifford family during this difficult time. May Frank rest in peace.
