So shocking! San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith was arrested Aug. 6 for hit and run, DUI and vandalism. Looks like there are more legal problems on the way for Aldon.
Aldon Smith, 25, just can’t seem to stay out of trouble. The San Francisco 49ers linebacker was arrested Thursday night, Aug. 6, for hit and run, DUI and vandalism. During the last NFL season, Aldon served a nine-game suspension for violating certain league policies.
The Santa Clara Police Department tweeted that Aldon, born Aldon Jacarus Smith, had been arrested for hit and run, DUI and vandalism on Aug. 6. No further details were given, but the department said a press release would be available today, Aug. 7. Records show that Aldon was booked on a $26,000 bail.
Aldon’s arrest only adds to his long list of legal and personal troubles. He was suspended for nine games last year for violating the NFL’s personal conduct and substances of abuses, NFL.com reports. He was arrested for DUI in 2012, according to NBC Sports. Aldon also faced weapons charges in 2012 after an incident, in which he was stabbed, occurred at his home.
In July 2014, Aldon was ordered to serve 12 days in jail and was put on three years of probation after he pleaded no contest to the three felony weapons charges originating from the 2012 incident. He also received a $2,000 fine, 235 hours of community service and cannot possess guns or ammunition during his probation period. The charges were reduced to misdemeanors.
He nabbed another DUI after a car accident in Sept. 2013. Aldon then entered rehab and was absent from five games in the 2013 season. Aldon was arrested in 2014 after he was accused of making a bomb threat at Los Angeles International Airport. Charges were never filed.
Alson was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers seventh overall in the 2011 NFL draft. He’s played for them ever since. He played college football for the University of Missouri.
