Zendaya has officially announced that she will be a shoe designer! We are so excited about her new Spring 2016 collection, which will be available to shop next year. Are you guys as excited as we are?
Zendaya, 18, is known for her unique and eccentric style, so it comes as no surprise to us that the actress just unveiled a brand new shoe line. Although the Spring 2016 shoe collection is not available in stores yet, when it is, it’s going to be like Christmas morning for us!
Zendaya is only 18 years old, but she is already insanely talented and now she can add shoe designer to her resume! She headed to NYC for a launch event on Aug. 5, where she debuted her spring 2016 shoe collection, Daya, which is a nickname her family gave her — how cute is that? Zendaya is the co-creator of Daya, alongside her longtime stylist, Law Roach.
The collection is everything you expected and more: bright bold colors such as fuschia, yellow, and cobalt, cutout details, fringe embellishments, slides, wedges, block heels (the latest trend), and pointed-toe flats — just to describe a few. Lucky for us, Zendaya wanted all of the shoes to be affordable, so all styles are available for under $225.
Zendaya met with FootwearNews exclusively, to discuss the latest collection. “I wanted shoes that were going to speak for themselves. If [consumers] didn’t know who the heck I was, which a lot of people don’t, they are still going to like the shoes,” she said. “I don’t want people buying because they’re Zendaya shoes — they are for everyone.”
Law expressed his thoughts on Zendaya, “One of her big platforms is telling girls that it’s okay to be tall and wear heels — it’s okay to be the tallest girl in the room.” While Zendaya is 5-foot-10, she never shies away from heels — how can we forget her sky-high stilettos at the 2015 BET Awards?
She followed up with this, saying, “If you’re going to the airport, I’m not the lady to wear heels — I’m just not going to do it. If I’m going to an event, I wouldn’t be caught dead in flats. I love to be tall on red carpets.”
We could not be more excited for Zendaya’s shoe line, The Sole of Daya, could you?
