Another one bites the dust. Nicolle Wallace will officially depart ‘The View,’ the talk show on which she has co-hosted for a sole season.
Nicolle Wallace will not return to The View, she confirmed on the Aug. 6 episode of the talk show. The 43-year-old was just announced as a host in September, 2014, and will complete her stint after just one season, on a still unspecified date. Her departure comes on the heels of yet another shakeup over at the ABC morning show, with Rosie Perez having just announced her departure as well, alongside reports of former host Sherri Shepherd‘s return to the all-female panel. Of course, this all also follows the permanent addition of current co-host Raven Symone.
Speaking of her brief time on the show, the former communications chief to George W. Bush had only kind things to say. “I love you guys, and you know I never thought I would get this job in a million years,” Nicolle said during the emotional segment of the show. “I was more surprised to get it than I would have been to not get it,” she added.
As an outspoken republican, Nicolle often sparred with the panel’s liberal skewing correspondents, including Whoopi Goldberg and Raven. At this time, we don’t know exactly whether Nicolle was fired or opted to quit on her own accord, but either way, she remains grateful. “I would have been more surprised if they had kept me around because I am the original political nerd,” she said. “‘Hell On Heels’ was the name of that song which we joke that’s what they call all of us, right? I have loved being a part of this table I have loved sitting in this chair and it was never mine, but I’m lucky I got to occupy it for a little bit.”
What do you guys think of the latest game of musical chairs at The View? Are you bummed Nicolle is leaving? Who would you like to see take her spot?
