Emma Watson may have had her heart broken in December, but that hasn’t stopped her from living her life! In a new interview, the ‘Harry Potter’ star revealed how she was able to bounce back from her breakup with Matt Janney so quickly.
It’s no secret that Emma Watson, 25, is a great actress and person, so we hate to hear about any hardships she was forced to go through. Well, in the September issue of Vogue UK, she opened up about her recent breakup with ex Matt Janney and how she got through it. In such a sad time, we think she did something pretty admirable!
Considering Emma was named one of TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People this year, it’s safe to say she’s a strong, smart girl. So when she went through what she calls a “horrendous” breakup with Matt in December 2014, she handled it in the most mature way possible.
“I felt really uncomfortable, even before my relationship ended,” she told Vogue UK. “I went on a silent retreat, because I really wanted to figure out how to be at home with myself.”
Emma spent this “silent retreat” in Canada’s Rocky Mountains, at a place where residents are required to take a week-long vow of silence. Despite how intense that sounds, we think she did exactly what she needed to do in order to move on. Eight months later, she’s anything but silent — from equal rights activist to Belle in Disney’s live-action Beauty and The Beast, Emma is absolutely rocking her career.
In fact, she admitted to the mag that her accomplishments and success might scare men away. “I just think it’s very patronizing towards men. It undermines them,” she said. But luckily for Emma, she has yet to experience that in her relationships. “The boyfriend or partners I’ve had have generally made me feel really cherished. They’ve built me up.” She continued, “I certainly haven’t found that with doing all that I do or being all that I am, that I’ve struggled in my love life.”
Since her split with Matt, Emma was rumored to be dating both Prince Harry and Harry Styles (we’re jealous). Neither report ending up being true, but it seems Emma is doing just fine on her own — that silent retreat did her well! You go, girl!
