Too fat to model? Gigi Hadid was told she had to lose weight if she ever wanted a modeling career. Instead, the blond bombshell embraced her curves and became one of the most in demand models in the world. You go girl!
Gigi Hadid, 20, is without question one of the most stunning models in Hollywood. Now in a revealing new interview she claims that when she first began her career, she was told that she was too heavy for the runway. Read on to see how Gigi fought back against the pressure and learned that she could have a great career by embracing her curves.
As a former volleyball player, the blond bombshell always had an athletic and powerful body. “My thighs were huge, they were like rock! I had like crazy muscles and I [ate] like a man – more than the man that I eat like now, like a bigger man – and it was crazy but at the time I didn’t care what my body looked like, I just wanted to be the best volleyball player I could be so it didn’t really matter to me,” she told the Daily Mail. However all of that training made her unappealing to New York modeling agencies “When I first went to visit different agencies in New York, a lot of them were like, you have to lose a lot of weight. I would cry at night and my mom [Yolanda Foster] would be like, “We’re going to find the [right] people”.’
Gigi Blows Up Her Career By Embracing Her Curves
Despite the rejection, Gigi stayed on her course and eventually signed with IMG Models and she quickly sky rocketed to super model status, curves and all. “I’m kind of the model that everyone thought would always be the Guess, Sports Illustrated girl, then when I started to do high fashion stuff… people were like, ‘Oh so we can have a girl with like thighs and a butt in a Tom Ford campaign, cool.” We never doubted for a moment that you were runway material Gigi!
