Get ready for some Mimi on ‘Empire’ y’all! Mariah Carey will appear on the second season of the smash hit series– and we need to see her go up against Cookie yesterday!
Well hello there, boo boo kitty-Mimi. Mariah Carey is going to be on Empire‘s second season, it was announced on Aug. 5. Just as Mariah was receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, another big life event was revealed: Empire co-creator Lee Daniels kinda sorta definitely let it slip that Mariah would be dropping by at some point in the new season, which debuts on Fox on Sept. 23! So, we have to wonder, when will she and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) have their first show down?
Can you even imagine the scenes that the two of them will have? Because we honestly can’t even think about it without sending our hearts into a spyral of diva fabulousness and high octane squeals. Of course, we don’t know yet in what capacity Mariah will appear on the series, but let us dream, dammit!
Anyways, we’re getting slightly ahead of ourselves since Fox hasn’t actually confirmed (nor made any comment) about Mariah’s role in the hip-hop drama, but Lee said it, and we trust him! Speaking to Mariah’s achievements, Lee casually slipped in, “Watch her on Empire, you guys! She’s coming on Empire!” A verbal contract is binding in some states, Lee. Remember that!
Lee was on hand to present Mariah with her star as the two are longtime friends. Additionally, Empire will not be the first time the duo has worked together– not by a long shot. The director and producer actually cast her in the 2008 flick, Tennessee, 2009’s Precious and the 2013 drama The Butler.
Mimi should fit right in with the fellow divas who have stopped by the smash hit series. In fact, she is in incredible diva-fied company, including the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Naomi Campbell, Mary J. Blige, Gabourey Sidibe and, it’s worth mentioning one more time for obvious reasons, freaking Taraji.
Are you guys excited to see Mariah on Empire? Who are you hoping to see her square off against (she’s not gonna get on there and not stir up some drama, after all)?
