Gigi Hadid has officially graced yet another magazine cover and this time it is for the September issue of ‘W’ mag. The supermodel had a ton to say about fashion, friends, and her career, not to mention the pics are jaw-dropping.
Gigi Hadid, 20, is a household name in fashion these days and that is because she has dipped her toes in all different campaigns and commercials. The blonde bombshell is not only one of fashion’s most powerful models, she is so down-to-earth, too! Her latest venture is gracing the cover of the September issue of W mag and she looks absolutely stunning. She dishes to the mag about everything from modeling, to social media, to family.
Gigi obviously loves modeling because it is so fun and exciting, but she also understands all of the responsibilities that come along with it. “I have always been aware of the business side of this industry. I’ve always seen it as a career that required work and planning,” she said.
One of Gigi’s projects was being the face of Velvet Orchid, Tom Ford’s fragrance, and going completely nude for the campaign. “I’ve never been scared of being naked in pictures, but I wouldn’t do naked for naked’s sake. With Tom, it was an easy decision. When you think of scent, you don’t think of clothes. In the beginning, I thought Tom would not want to know my name. But he made a space for me in the high-fashion world. When Tom liked me, other jobs followed.”
One of the coolest things about Gigi is that she can either be walking on a high-fashion runway, or just doing an everyday commercial. “My Pirelli calendar is hanging on the wall of my friend’s frat house, and he doesn’t know anything about fashion. That balance is what leads to big campaigns outside of fashion. But I never want to choose one or the other. Both commercial and high fashion are what make my job so interesting.” We absolutely love this quote from her — we think it’s so funny how she is just a normal teenager like everyone else.
Lynn Hirschberg, W editor at large, said in a statement, “Hadid is a rarity: a model who appeals to the fashion elite, but attracts equal attention in the world of mainstream brands. Unlike anonymous models of the recent past, Hadid is a personality and not just a photogenic mannequin. With their potent combination of family lineage, social media influence, and sex appeal, Hadid and her fellow new-generation models—Cara Delevingne and Kendall Jenner—should be called the Post It Girls: They are instant celebrities who built their fame online.”
Edward Enninful, W fashion director, said, “Gigi is the face of now. Social media has given the world the new supermodel: accessible, connected, and powered by fans. We wanted to capture this moment in pop culture, while layering a timeless, glamorous look to create something unexpected.”
Wow, and this was just a snippet of what’s to come in the latest issue when it hits newsstands August 18! We are so excited!
