Well, that’s one way to land yourself in jail! Rapper Travis Scott, 23, got himself arrested at the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago on Aug. 1 after asking the crowd to rush the stage during his performance. What was he thinking?
Travis, who was only one song and five minutes into his set, bizarrely told fans to rush past security and barricades onto the stage, much to the disbelief of onlookers, according to Chicago’s ABC7. His performance was soon shut down! After instructing the crowd to disobey security procedures during the performance, Travis was overheard chanting at his audience, “We want rage,” as the situation got out of hand.
The hip-hop star, whose real name is Jacques Webster, was arrested on the second day of the festival and is facing disorderly conduct charges. “The performer played one song and then began telling fans to come over the barricades,” the Office of Emergency Management said in a statement. “Due to the security’s quick response, the situation was remedied immediately and no fans were injured. The performer fled the scene and was taken into custody a short while later.”

It’s not the first time Travis has found himself in hot water with the law apparently. On May 23, 2013, he boasted on his Twitter account about being arrested and claimed he spent that day in prison. However, no details of that arrest were ever released, and he didn’t comment any further on it, so who knows what to believe.
Still, with Florence + the Machine scheduled to headline Lollapalooza tonight,August 2, there’s plenty more to look forward to at the annual music bash.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Should Travis have been charged?
