Do you smell what The Rock is cooking? It smells like…forgiveness? Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson defended fellow wrestler Hulk Hogan over his use of the n-word and said he doesn’t think Hulk is a racist!
The pro-wrestling world laid the smackdown on Hulk Hogan, 61, after fans found out about his racist rant. The WWE also gave him the big boot and it looked like Hulk had hit rock bottom! Now, he has an unlikely tag-team partner, as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, 43, came to Hulk’s defense over his use of racial slurs!
While Dwayne attended the 2015 TCA press tour for his HBO show, Ballers, he had a chance to comment on Hulk’s rant, reports UsWeekly. While the Rock said he was “pretty disappointed with what [he] heard,” he doesn’t think that we should label Hulk a bigot.
“I’ve known Terry [Bollea, Hulk Hogan’s real name] for a lot of years. My dad helped train him in Florida in the ’70s when he was breaking into the business,” said The Rock. “My uncles helped train him too as well. I have not known the man to be racist.”
Hulk got into this situation on July 23, after transcripts of his sex tape audio were leaked to the press. While talking with Heather Clem, Hulk used the “n-word” multiple times, shocking all his Hulkamaniacs! The WWE then fired Hulk and removed all evidence of him from their website. They even replaced him on Tough Enough!
While Dwayne defended Hulk from being branded a racist, he didn’t excuse his tirade or the multiple use of the n-word. “It’s funny. It’s one of those things where – and [I’m] not justifying what he said. [But] we’ve all talked trash, especially in private,” said the Furious 7 star. “He said what he said and he’s paying the price.”
After the wrestling world turned on Hulk, he apologized for his racist remarks. “Eight years ago, I used offensive language during a conversation,” Hulk said in a statement to People magazine. “It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language. There is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it.” It seems like The Rock has accepted Hulk’s apology.
What do you think about Dwayne Johnson defending Hulk Hogan, HollywoodLifers? Is Hulk a racist? Do you think we should forgive him?
