Upon hearing the news of Roddy’s death, his good friend Hulk revealed how much he’ll miss the wrestling legend. “I will forever miss him. He was my best friend. He is a legend,” Hulk told TMZ. “God’s gain is our loss. May his family in this time of need, find peace. Much love forever, HH.” What a sweet message for Roddy’s grieving family. Hulk and Roddy have a long history together. The two battled each other at Wrestlemania I in 1985 and although they were enemies in the ring, the two remained good friends outside of the wrestling ring for years.
The WWE Chairman and CEO also paid his respects to Roddy. “Roddy Piper was one of the most entertaining, controversial and bombastic performers ever in WWE,” Vince tweeted. “Beloved by millions of fans around the world. I extend my deepest condolences to his family.” So sad. The 61-year-old wrestling legend shockingly passed away in his sleep on July 31.

News of Roddy’s death surfaced on the internet on July 31. The deceased wrestler died in his sleep due to cardiac arrest at his home in Hollywood, Calif. Roddy was only 61 when he passed away. WWE released a statement in regard’s to Roddy’s sudden death. “WWE is deeply saddened that Roderick Toombs, aka “Rowdy” Roddy Piper — WWE Hall of Famer and Intercontinental Champion — passed away today at the age of 61,” they said. “WWE extends its sincerest condolences to Toombs’ family, friends and fans.” Such a sad time in the wrestling community.
