She’s still got it! Lauryn Hill dropped by ‘The Tonight Show’ on July 30 where she AMAZED with a performance of Nina Simone’s ‘Feeling Good.’ Watch it here!
Make no mistake about it, Lauryn Hill, 40, hasn’t lost an ounce of her stellar pipes! In a rare television appearance, the ex-Fugees singer stopped by The Tonight Show on July 30 to perform an out-of-this-world rendition of Nina Simone’s classic “Feeling Good.” Prepare to be floored!
She’s been keeping a low profile as of late, but Lauryn reminded us all of just how incredibly talented she is with this killer live performance. Taking on the ambitious old-school track, the eight-time Grammy award-winning artist slayed with her own personal rendition, which saw the singer belting it out and at one point, even scatting! Something tells us Nina would have been proud of this one.
Now, for those wondering why the “That Thing” singer chose a Nina Simone song for her televised performance, the answer is simple: Lauryn is actually one of the many artists featured on the recently-released compilation album “Nina Revisited: A Tribute to Nina Simone.” The album, which Lauryn helped produced, is inspired by the Netflix original documentary, What Happened, Miss Simone?, and features covers by Usher, 36, Common, 43, and Mary J. Blige, 44, among others.
We have to say, it’s good to see Lauryn again. The last we heard from her, she had just released a new single, titled “Consumerism” in Oct. 2013. The ex-Fugees singer dropped the new track after a three month stint in jail for tax evasion. Never one afraid to speak her mind, Lauryn dropped the single along with a post on her Tumblr page that was full of socio-political commentary that still feels relevant to this very day.
Let us know what you think HollywoodLifers — did Lauryn rock her Nina Simone cover?
