In a new ‘I Am Cait’ sneak peek, Caitlyn Jenner’s conservative views become a problem for some of her trans friends. They’re ‘worried’ she’s living in a bubble, which is an ‘impediment’ to being a good role model for the trans community. Watch the video here!
So much drama! In a new sneak peek clip from the Aug. 2 episode of I Am Cait, Caitlyn Jenner takes a road trip with a few of her trans friends, but things get super awkward when the 65-year-old suggests some trans youth may be abusing social programs.
“What’s the big issue?” Cait asks some of her trans friends in the new clip. Chandi replies, “[Trans men and women across the country] are homeless, unemployed, so it’s just going to take a lot more.”
“I think if I was to focus on one area it would be entry level jobs so that these girls have some alternative if they wanted,” Jen Richards tells the group. And everyone seems to nod in agreement, but as the conversation continues, Caitlyn’s conservative views rub her friends the wrong way.
“Don’t a lot of times they can make more not working with social programs than they actually can with an entry level job,” Caitlyn says before adding, “But you don’t want people to get totally dependent on it. That’s when they get in trouble. ‘Why should I work?'”
“Now I’m worried,” Jenny Boylan says as the other women show signs of discomfort. “Caitlyn has every right to be just as conservative as she choses, but many transgender men and women need social programs to survive, and that’s nothing to be ashamed of. Living in the bubble is an impediment to understanding other people. Cait’s going to be a spokesperson for the community. This is something she’s going to have to understand.”
