The Houston family is heartbroken over news of Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death, but unfortunately, they just can’t seem to agree on how to handle things now that she’s gone. The latest source of contention? Pat Houston’s plans for a Sweet 16-themed funeral. Uh…?
Our hearts are with Pat Houston as she mourns the death of her niece, Bobbi Kristina Brown, 22, but we have to admit, her plans for the late 22-year-old’s funeral are a bit…strange. Whitney Houston’s sister is planning a service with a Sweet 16 theme — and other family members are not feeling it.
Specifically, it’s Dionne Warwick, Whitney’s cousin, who is the latest to be warring with Pat, Daily Mail reports. “Dionne is threatening to not attend the funeral because Pat Houston is taking over, even though she should be making decisions with Bobby [Brown] and not doing it on her own,” the site’s source claims. “Dionne feels it’s stupid and disrespectful to Bobbi Kristina.”
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Bobby isn’t thrilled with Pat’s idea, either. “[The Houston family] want the funeral to have a party atmosphere, filled with laughs, not tears,” an insider told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “Unfortunately, Bobby Brown doesn’t agree with this. He’s absolutely heartbroken and doesn’t like the idea of it being like her ‘Sweet 16’ party. He and the Houston family are really butting heads over who is running the show.”
Because Bobbi didn’t have a Sweet 16 party when she was alive, the family reportedly wants it to be “the Sweet 16 she never had,” according to Entertainment Tonight. The service will take place on Aug. 1 at St. James United Methodist Church in Aplharetta, Georgia, and Bobbi will be buried at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey, next to her mom, on Aug. 3.
Bobbi was found unconscious in her bathtub on Jan. 31, and remained in a medically-incuded coma for seven months before she sadly died on July 26. Police are reportedly investigating the death as a homicide, with her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, 19, as a person of interest. However, the initial autopsy, completed on July 27, “does not show an obvious underlying cause of death and no significant injuries were noted,” according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office.
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of plans for a Sweet 16 funeral?
