In a new ‘I Am Cait’ sneak peek, Caitlyn Jenner tells Kim Kardashian and Malika Haqq that long before she transitioned, she used to call down to room service at hotels while doing her ‘best feminine voice.’ Kim, of course, wanted a demonstration. Watch the video here!
Caitlyn Jenner always felt like a woman — even before she transitioned — but her voice never quite matched. In a new I Am Cait sneak peek, Caitlyn tells Kim Kardashian and Malika Haqq that she always wanted to know what life would be like once people recognized her as a woman. So while visiting hotels — long before she went public about her transition — Caitlyn used to call down to room service with her “best feminine voice.” To find out what happened, watch the video below.
“Like if you call down to room service, OK?” Caitlyn explains to Kim and Malika in the clip. “I’d be sitting there in my little room, all by my lonesome, and I’d think OK! I’m going to try to get my best feminine voice and call down so they say, ‘Yes, ma’am.’ I could never do it.”
“Try it,” Kim quickly suggests. “I’ll tell you if you get a ‘yes, ma’am.'”
“Let’s hear her!” Malika chimes in.
“Front desk!” Kim says, while impersonating a hotel employee. “Hey, this is room service. How can I help you?” Then, as herself, Kim tells Caitlyn to “order bacon and eggs and an orange juice and toast.”
“Yes, actually, you can help me!” Caitlyn says in her “best feminine voice.”
Kim then bursts out laughing and yells, “You sound no different!”
“I didn’t think so!” Caitlyn says.
“Sir! What would you like, sir?” Kim jokes.
“See!” Caitlyn adds. “That’s the problem!”
After she accepted the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 ESPYS, Caitlyn said she was insecure about her voice. “While I felt like I looked great and that the gown looked fabulous, I still have a voice issue,” she wrote on her blog. “It’s not quite right compared to my feminine appearance. That bothers me a little bit. However, I hope that people don’t listen to the pitch of my voice, but listen to what I have to say. That’s important to me.”
