Ring the alarm! Beyonce is reportedly in talks to join NBC’s production of ‘The Wiz.’ Who would she be starring as? Find out!
We just became that much more excited to tune into NBC’s production of The Wiz. Beyoncé, 33, is reportedly in talks to star in the song-and-dance adaptation of The Wizard of Oz. Find out all the details, including who she would star as and who else she would be joining!
Beyonce runs the world, and she might be running The Wiz, too! The “Flawless” singer has reportedly been offered the role of Glinda the Good Witch in the production, E! reports. If this is the case, it would be a dream come true! We all remember how incredible Bey was on-screen in the 2006 film, Dreamgirls. Glinda was originally portrayed by Grammy-winning jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater when the show debuted on Broadway in 1975. When it was adapted into a film in 1978, Grammy winner Lena Horne took over the role. Seeing as though Beyonce is the most nominated woman in Grammy history, we’re certain that she is fully capable of filling Glinda’s shoes!
Also in talks for a starring role is Orange is the New Black star, Uzo Aduba, 34. Believe it or not, the Emmy-nominated star, who plays Crazy Eyes on the hit dramedy, was actually on Broadway! She starred in the revival of the musical Godspell from 2011 to 2012.
With Uzo and Beyonce reportedly in talks for roles, Mary J. Blige and Queen Latifah have already signed on, according to multiple outlets. Mary will be playing Evillene, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Queen Latifah will be playing the Wizard. Amazing! We would love for Yonce and Uzo to join the cast, but regardless, this production sure sounds epic!
The Wiz will air on NBC on Dec. 3.
