Less than 24 hours after Bobbi Kristina Brown died, the first autopsy was conducted on her body. Unfortunately, the results revealed nothing about how she died — which will make the investigation into her death even more difficult.
Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at the young age of 22 after spending months in a coma. However, it’s going to be a while before the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office can confirm exactly what caused her death as the initial autopsy provided little to no information. In an official statement, the coroner reveals that a handful of additional tests need to be done before they can make any confirmation.
“The initial portion of the autopsy has been completed. The autopsy does not show an obvious underlying cause of death and no significant injuries were noted. No previously unknown medical conditions that could have contributed to death were identified,” reads the first statement from the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday, July 27. This news is definitely difficult to hear, especially since Bobbi Kristina suffered for so long in a coma.
But, the investigation into how she died does not end there. “Additional laboratory testing will be performed. Subpoenas have been issued to obtain needed documentary information. We do not plan to complete the death certificate or determine a cause and manner of death until all test results are completed and all investigative, medical, and other documentary records are received and thoroughly reviewed. We anticipate that these processes will take several weeks.”
As of the date of the statement, it is unclear if the ongoing autopsy process will delay any funeral arrangements for Bobbi Kristina.
Even though Bobbi Kristina’s death is now being treated as a homicide according to TMZ, more thorough autopsy results could definitely help the investigators in confirming whether or not her death could be ruled as such. However, the fact that she remained in a coma for approximately 7 months will “complicate” things, a representative for the Medical Examiner’s Office told AP in a statement.
“Interpretation of autopsy findings and other information will also be challenging,” the statement reads. “However, an autopsy could be helpful to address questions which may arise about the cause of her unresponsiveness and eventual death.” Hopefully the coroner can find all of the detailed information they need to bring peace to the Brown and Houston families regarding Bobbi Kristina’s tragic and untimely death, no matter what the cause may have been.
Our thoughts remain with Bobbi Kristina’s friends and family during this difficult time.
