Is it Shawn? Is it Nick? Is it no one? Here’s our full recap of ‘The Bachelorette’ season finale — who did Kaitlyn pick?
Both Shawn Booth and Nick Viall got Kaitlyn Bristowe‘s parents’ approval — Nick even shed a few tears, but it all came down to Kaitlyn. So, would her family help sway her? Who did The Bachelorette choose, and which ring?!
The show began with Kaitlyn’s parents: both Nick and Shawn asked for their permission to ask for her hand in marriage, and both got that blessing. Kaitlyn told her parents she went too far with Nick, and then the parents brought it up to both men. Surprisingly, they both really were mature about it. At first her whole family was Team Nick, and they could see his impression on her — but her sisters were completely swayed onto Team Shawn! Apparently a bottle wins over Nick’s tears.
Following the meet-the-parents segment, Kaitlyn went sailing with Nick and we saw some standard butt-grabbing and seriously lovey-dovey affection and literally their chemistry could not be more tangible. He gave her the gift (remember, he gave Andi a shell necklace last year) of a framed picture of them from their first date, with words about what he was feeling then. She said that she knew she was in love with him.
But then there was Shawn. It was super awkward at first while they sat at a picnic, she asked if he was wearing sunscreen, you know — normal date stuff. However, at night they got a little more romantic and really put it on the table — it was awkward because it was coming to an end and they knew how much they meant to each other. He then gave her a huge jar of memories from each date (or things the producers gave them to put in a jar).
Kaitlyn Says Goodbye
After the date it was clear — she was in love with two guys, that were both in love with her. Hard life, girl. So it was time for the rings. Shawn and Nick both met with Neil Lane to pick out the rings they would propose with and uh, let’s just say, both are freaking amazing. On the limo ride over, both are pretty clear — they think they are in the one, and they think their relationship is better than the other’s.
So, what’s the verdict? Well, Nick gets out of the limo first which means, yes, she turns him down. He tells her that he showed up for her, saying how in love with him she was. Through tears, he tells her he’s not ready to let go. However, she stops him before he proposes, saying that her heart belongs to someone else — even though she pretty much says that she’s in love with him. He tells her straight: it’s not the same, and he doesn’t want her to continue to act that she feels the same way. He also alludes that “the moment” meant more to him than to her. In the car home, he throws the ring — and then says he’s “the world’s biggest joke.” NO YOU’RE NOT NICK!
Oh, and this happened.
So, Is She Engaged?
“From the moment that I saw you that night I stepped out of the limo, I knew that my life was never going to be the same,” Shawn told her, before getting down on one knee — and let’s just say, she was smiling ear to ear. He also knew how to deliver a speech better than most we’ve seen on this show — and it worked. She definitely scared him by saying, “I have to be honest with you and tell you the truth.” Then, after a pause, she said:
And the truth is I never want you to question what we have ever again because I am completely yours, and I will always be faithful to you and I have been waiting so long to tell you how I feel because I love you with all of my heart, like I’ve never loved anyone before, and I can’t wait to make a lifetime of memories with you and only you because you are the one and always will be.
Looks like she can deliver a speech too — and with that, he proposed and she said yes. I mean, did you see the ring?
Alright guys, are you happy about Kaitlyn’s choice?
