Everyone breathe a sigh of relief — Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj have buried the hatchet! Less than an hour after Taylor apologized to the rapper on Twitter, Nicki wrote back to accept. Read the sweet tweet here!
Looks like Taylor Swift, 25, won’t have “Bad Blood” with Nicki Minaj, 32, any longer! After a bad misunderstanding that got blown pretty out of control, the “Style” singer apologized, and, now, Nicki has accepted. YAY, friends again!
“That means so much Taylor, thank you,” the “Anaconda” rapper wrote on her social media page on July 23. Later, she added, “I’ve always loved her. Everyone makes mistakes. She gained so much more respect from me. Let’s move on.” Her messages were in response to Taylor’s, which, sincerely, read, “I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I’m sorry, Nicki.”
It’s pretty understandable that Taylor might think Nicki was calling her out to begin with — the whole thing started with a Twitter rant about the MTV Video Music Award nominations, in which Ms. Minaj concluded, “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.” Click to hear more details about the Taylor and Nicki fight.
Of course, Tay’s “Bad Blood” video does feature a plethora of gorgeous women who could definitely be described as “slim,” so she made the assumption the dig was directed at her. Nicki was quick to clear that up, though, and Taylor faced a TON of backlash from #TeamNicki supporters, who recognized the rapper’s criticism was really about media’s portrayal of black females as a whole.
Taylor Swift & Nicki Minaj Feud: Katy Perry Gets Involved
The whole thing REALLY blew up, though, when Taylor’s enemy, Katy Perry, got involved on July 23. “Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman…” she wrote.
Remember: “Bad Blood” is about Katy, and the whole concept of the video has Taylor’s group of friends going at one another. And even though Nicki accepted the 25-year-old’s apology, she still recognized the fact that Katy was standing by her side, and even sent her a kissing face emoji on Twitter after tweeting her thanks to Tay.
Regardless of where Katy stands, we’re just glad Nicki and Taylor were able to work this out! What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Should Nicki have accepted Taylor’s apology?
