President Obama dropped by ‘The Daily Show’ for one final appearance before host Jon Stewart departs his post and, like us, he couldn’t believe that Jon is getting out of the spotlight before he is!
These are two guys’ whose lives will be drastically different about a year from now. President Obama has been making somewhat regular appearances to The Daily Show since he began his presidency. Of course, with the talk show’s host Jon Stewart set to leave on Aug. 5 (he will be replaced by Trevor Noah), Mr. President had to pay his respects one final time, and so he did on July 21. The two discussed their mutual “senioritis,” retirement, and Obama’s new executive order which might get Jon to reconsider abandoning his post!
“You know, I can’t believe that you’re leaving before me!” Obama replies. Uh, neither can we, Mr. President. Neither can we. “In fact,” he continued, “I’m issuing a new executive order: Jon Stewart cannot leave the show. It’s uh…it’s being challenged in the courts.”
Who would ever challenge such a universally accepted thought, though? “I have to say, for me, this is a states rights issue,” Jon said of the order. Ugh, disagree, Jon leaving The Daily Show is surely on a federal scale, right?
But another guy who’s current job is coming to an end: Obama! “You don’t have that much time to take away america’s guns, declare Martial Law and put hardworking Americans in FEMA camps,” Jon (jokingly) said to Obama of his dwindling time left in office.
“I better get started!” Obama replied. Eh, maybe stick to Iran and healthcare, Mr. President. Watch the clip below!
What did you think of Obama’s final appearance on The Daily Show? Can you believe Jon is retiring before he is?
